The proposed resolution authorizes entering into an agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for grant funding of $5,000 for wetland restoration at Cherokee Marsh. The 2016 Parks Division Adopted Capital Budget includes $175,000 for Conservation Park Improvements, including $15,000 from Federal grant sources. There is no impact upon the tax levy.

Authorizing the Parks Superintendent to enter into a cooperative grant agreement with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service for wetland restoration at Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park.
Body
WHEREAS, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Wisconsin Private Lands Office has awarded a grant for wetland restoration at Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park which involves modifying old agricultural ditches to restore the natural hydrology; and
WHEREAS, under this agreement the City will use the grant funding towards wetland restoration at Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park, which will reduce City funding needed for this project by approximately twenty percent (20%); and
WHEREAS, both City and Federal expenditure authorization for this project is available in the 2016 Adopted Parks Capital Budget, Conservation Park Improvements capital project (MUNIS Project No. 17124); and
WHEREAS, the City and the Fish and Wildlife Service have worked collaboratively on habitat restoration efforts over the past seven years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Parks Superintendent is authorized to sign, on behalf of the city, grant agreements with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service which includes accepting up to $5,000 to fund the above-described project and other terms and conditions of participating in this program; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the agreements are to be reviewed and approved by the City Attorney and Risk Manager.
