Fiscal Note
Funding of $2,900,000 is available in the 2007 Streets Division Capital Budget under Project No. 4 "Automated Refuse Collection Carts", Capital Account Number 810469. No additional appropriation is required. There is no anticipated impact upon General Obligation Debt, the tax levy, or cost controls.

SUBSTITUTE - Authorizing the Streets Division to purchase carts for the automated refuse collection program from the Rehrig Pacific Company.

Whereas, the Streets Division is going to begin automated collection of refuse on September 10, 2007, and
Whereas, the automated collection of refuse will require that each of the Streets Division's customers have at least one cart for their refuse, and
Whereas, the Streets Division will offer City of Madison residents 3 sizes of automated carts; 35 gallon, 65 gallon and the default size of 95 gallon carts, and
Whereas, Rehrig Pacific Corporation was the winning bidder on the contract to provide carts and door-to-door delivery for the Streets Division's automated recycling program, and
Whereas, the carts and after sale service provided by Rehrig Pacific has been excellent and our contract with Rehrig Pacific allows us to purchase refuse collection carts at a competitive price,
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Streets Division is authorized to purchase carts for the automated refuse collection program from the Rehrig Pacific Company, on a sole source basis, for the automated refuse collection program.
