Honoring John Wroten for his Work as the Common Wealth Development Adult Employment Manager
Body
WHEREAS, John Wroten began his work as an intern with Joining Forces For Family and volunteered numerous unpaid hours to established the South West Transitional Employment Program (STEP) and has contributed to moving forward the work of Adult Workforce Development program of Common Wealth Development; and,
WHEREAS, John Wroten has demonstrated a high level of service, commitment, and dedication since 2013 to working in solidarity with community members in Southwest Madison that face exceptional challenges to accessing employment, securing safe and healthy housing, and navigating complex resource systems to build more stability; and,
WHEREAS, John truly believes in the power of trust and relationship building with the communities he works in and, along, with other collaborators ensured there was a framework of humility built into the Adult Workforce Development program and has worked tirelessly to keep the people of the neighborhood at the center of every conversation; and,
WHEREAS, throughout his career, John has worked persistently to address the systemic barriers that his program participants and community members face; and,
WHEREAS, over the years, John has used his personal resources to support individuals to stabilize their lives by providing transportation, food, or clothing resources. John has always been a behind-the-scenes and “low-key” force in the neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, John Wroten's efforts have certainly made Southwest Madison a better place and the legacy he leaves behind is much greater than he will ever know;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Madison Mayor and Common Council thank John Wroten for his many years of dedication to his community.
