Update: Wanda Fullmore Summer Internship Program / Common Council Intern - Lisa Veldran and Richelle Andrae, Common Wealth
Body
Starting the week of July 6, 2015 the Common Council Office will be hosting a high school student intern through the Wanda Fullmore Youth Internship (and administered by CommonWealth). The student will be working 15-20 hours a week for approximately six weeks.
The Wanda Fullmore Youth Internship Program is designed to engage youth who face barriers to employment, expose youth to different career and community pathways and provide support through leadership opportunities. Each intern will have ongoing training with Common Wealth staff and will be paired with a Common Wealth staff mentor who will be available for feedback, help and guidance in working with the student.
Some of the tasks that were identified for the intern:
· Develop biographies for each alder to be used on webpages, brochures, etc.
· Create a brochure about the Common Council to inform and engage high school students
· Attend neighborhood meetings to take notes, assist with registrations
· Shadow an alder during the day and write about their experience for their high school/community/neighborhood publication
· Attend a Common Council meeting and provide feedback on their experience and possible changes; and other identified tasks from alders
