Honoring the late ellsworth snyder for his contributions to the City of Madison's Arts Commission and his numerous contributions to the arts in Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, ellsworth snyder was instrumental in shaping the arts in Madison by serving on the Madison Arts Commission (formerly Madison CitiARTS) from 1996 to 2002; and
 
WHEREAS, ellsworth passed away on August 11, 2005 at the age of 74; and
 
WHEREAS, he was a devoted visual artist, musician, and teacher throughout his 30-plus year career in Madison; and
 
WHEREAS, ellsworth was an advocate of avant-garde music as well as the classics; and
 
WHEREAS, ellsworth also played a major role in establishing and implementing the Public Art Plan for Madison; and
 
WHEREAS, ellsworth bequeathed a substantial portion of his personal art collection to the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art for the enjoyment of all Madison residents; and
 
WHEREAS, ellsworth's talents as a visual artist and musician have long been respected by his colleagues, City Boards and Commissions, the Common Council and the many professionals with whom he has worked.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the citizens of the city of Madison, through the Mayor and Common Council, hereby express their deep condolences and appreciation to the late ellsworth snyder for his significant contributions to shaping the city of Madison's arts environment for current residents and future generations.
