DRAFTER’S ANALYSIS: This ordinance will rename the Traffic Engineering Division of the Department of Transportation the Mobility and Infrastructure Division, and retitle the position of Director of Traffic Engineering to the Director of Mobility and Infrastructure. This retitling of the Division and executive position is meant to better reflect the full duties of Division, the shift of the Division's work to a people-centered approach, and is consistent with progressive industry trends.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:

1. Subparagraph (q) of Subsection (2) entitled “Director of Transportation” of Section 3.14 entitled “Department of Transportation” is amended as follows:

“(q) Supervise the Traffic Engineering Mobility and Infrastructure, Parking, and Transit Divisions of the Department of Transportation; and”

2. Subsection (3) entitled “Divisions” of Section 3.14 entitled “Department of Transportation” is amended as follows:

“(3) Divisions. The Department of Transportation shall consist of the Traffic Engineering Mobility and Infrastructure Division, the Parking Division, and the Transit Division.”

3. Subdivision (a) entitled “Traffic Engineering Division” of Subsection (3) entitled “Divisions” of Section 3.14 entitled “Department of Transportation” is amended as follows:

“(a) Traffic Engineering Mobility and Infrastructure Division.
