The proposed resolution amends the Planning Division 2016 Adopted Operating Budget to recognize $12,500 in grant revenues from the Wisconsin Historical Society and commensurate expenditure authority for consultant(s) services. This resolution produces no net effect on the levy and no additional appropriation is required.

Amending the 2016 adopted operating budget of the Planning Division to accept grant monies not to exceed $12,500 from the Wisconsin Historical Society’s Certified Local Government Subgrant for Historic Preservation and authorizing the Department of Planning and Community and Economic Development to contract with a consultant or consultants.

Body

WHEREAS on November 11, 2015 the Landmarks Commission requested that the City of Madison apply for funding through the State of Wisconsin Historical Society’s Certified Local Government Subgrant for Historic Preservation to hire a consultant(s) to prepare a National Register Nomination for Hoyt Park and to conduct an intensive survey which may lead to the preparation of a National Register Historic District Nomination for an area on Myrtle Street; and

 

WHEREAS the intensive survey and preparation of National Register nominations will support City-wide historic preservation efforts by documenting historic properties, offering property owners an incentive for maintaining their properties, encouraging economic development and reinvestment, and promoting the preservation of cultural resources; and

 

WHEREAS the City was notified that it was awarded two grants totaling $12,500 with no local match required.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Madison is authorized to accept the grant funds awarded by the State of Wisconsin Historical Society and the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to sign the Memorandum of Agreement with the State Historic Preservation Office of the Wisconsin Historical Society.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Planning and Community and Economic Development is authorized to contract with a consultant or consultants to undertake this project.

 

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the 2016 adopted operating budget of the Planning Division be amended to recognize grant revenues of $12,500 and commensurate expenditure authority, as follows:
