The proposed Agreement with Baxter Woodman (to be selected) for professional engineering services for reconstruction of Booster Pump Station No. 120 will not exceed $35,000. Funds for this project are included in the 2012 Water Utility Capital Budget.

SUBSTITUTE: Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute a Professional Services Agreement with Baxter Woodman (to be selected) for the preparation of drawings and specifications, permitting, bidding, and construction administration for the Utility's upgrade of Booster Pump Station No. 120 located at 2829 Prairie Road (20th AD).
Body
WHEREAS, Booster Pump Station 120 located at 2829 Prairie Road is currently the sole source of supply to Pressure Zone 9 in the southwest corner of the City. Pump Station 120 fills the 400,000 gallon Prairie Road elevated reservoir and provides water and fire service to the Zone 9 water system; and
WHEREAS, Madison Water Utility relies on Booster Pump Station 120 as a critical supply component of the southwest water supply system and over the last 20 years the area has experienced significant development and an increase in water demand and fire protection capacity has been identified in the Utility's Master Plan. The Utility has identified the need to upgrade this pump station to ensure long term functionality of the facility; and
WHEREAS, Madison Water Utility has advertised for, received, and evaluated professional engineering consultant proposals for the work, and selected Baxter Woodman (to be selected) for this work;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to execute a Professional Services Agreement not to exceed $35,000 with Baxter Woodman (to be selected) for facility design, permitting, preparation of drawings and specifications, bidding services, and construction administration services for the reconstruction and updating of Booster Pumping Station No. 120.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that change orders that do not exceed the Madison Water Utility's approved budget or the scope of the project as authorized by the Common Council may be executed by the Water Utility General Manager and City Finance Director and/or designee, and counter executed by Baxter Woodman (to be selected).
