Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of The Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness
Body
WHEREAS, the Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness was founded by Lisa Peyton-Caire in 2012 to mobilize, support, and advocate on behalf of Black Women’s health; and,
WHEREAS, founder Lisa Peyton-Caire has tirelessly dedicated herself to envisioning, leading, creating, strengthening, and growing the Black Women’s Wellness movement - launching the first Black Women’s Wellness Day in Bowie, Maryland, in 2009 and expanding to Madison, Wisconsin in 2011; and,
WHEREAS, the Foundation’s purpose is to empower a generation of Well Black Women through eliminating health disparities and other barriers so they, their families, and their communities, may live long, healthy, and thriving lives; and,
WHEREAS, thanks to founder Peyton-Caire’s work and the endless support of other committed individuals, the Foundation has increased its reach to over 7,000 women and girls throughout Dane County through health promotion, education and family-stabilizing support services and impacting thousands more through their advocacy work; and,
WHEREAS, in 2022, it will be a full decade since the Foundation’s inception;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Madison recognize the extraordinary impact the Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness has had on the lives of countless Black individuals in Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin and beyond.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council commend Lisa Peyton-Caire, the Foundation’s past and current Board members, its employees and other steadfast and committed volunteers for their hard work and invaluable contributions to our community.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council congratulate and celebrate the Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness, its staff, volunteers, and donors on their 10th Anniversary, and express gratitude and support for their continued work.
