Proclaiming May 10, 2024, as Provider Appreciation Day in the City of Madison.

Body

WHEREAS, Provider Appreciation Day is celebrated the Friday before Mother’s Day every year to recognize child care providers, teachers, and other educators of young children everywhere; and,

 

WHEREAS, Provider Appreciation Day intends to express gratitude for those who care for young children; and,

 

WHEREAS, Provider Appreciation Day was started in 1996 by a group of volunteers in New Jersey who saw the need to recognize the tireless efforts of providers who care for children of working parents; and,

 

WHEREAS, child care has provided a safe, nurturing place for the enrichment and development of millions of children nationwide and is a vital force in our economy; and,

 

WHEREAS, families in Madison rely on child care providers as an essential service for early learning, development, and social supports for children; and,

 

WHEREAS, the availability of high-quality child care options provides critical infrastructure that enables employment for working families; and,

 

WHEREAS, access to affordable child care is necessary for employers to build and retain a robust workforce and is an important component of supporting entrepreneurship, building capacity, and improving education in working-age adults; and,

 

WHEREAS, the future depends on the quality of the early childhood experiences provided to young children today;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Madison proclaims May 10, 2024, as Provider Appreciation Day.

 

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the City of Madison expresses gratitude for child care providers, teachers, and other educators of young children.
