DRAFTER’S ANALYSIS: This amendment reduces members of the Food Policy Council from 23 members to 17 members. Additionally, this amendment modifies the aspirational criteria for the Mayor to use when appointing members.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:

1. Subsection (2) entitled “Membership; Terms” of Section 33.52 entitled “Food Policy Council” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended as follows:

“(2) Membership; Terms.”
(a) The FPC shall consist of twenty-three (23) members appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the Common Council; except that the representative of the Madison Metropolitan School District shall be appointed by the Superintendent of the School District. Three (3) of the members shall be alderpersons; aldermanic appointees shall serve a term expiring concurrent with their term as alders. Nineteen (19) of the remaining members shall be adult resident appointees; adult resident appointees shall serve a term of three years expiring on October 1st in the third year following appointment. One (1) member shall be less than twenty-four (24) years of age when appointed and shall serve a term of one year, expiring on July 31, and shall not count against the nineteen (19) adult resident members. The committee consists of seventeen (17) members not including two alternates:
1. two (2) of the members shall be Common Council members,
2. one (1) member shall be appointed by the Superintendent of the Madison Metropolitan School District,
