Fiscal Note
The capital costs of the traffic signal are included in the existing E-W BRT budget. No additional appropriation is required. Maintenance and operating costs for the signal will be incorporated into Traffic Engineering’s operating budget.

Entering into an agreement with Dane County for the installation, maintenance, and operation of a signal at the BRT West Terminal on Junction Rd (District 1).
Body
WHEREAS, the East-West Bus Rapid Transit project is under construction, with approximately 72% federal funding; and
WHEREAS, the BRT West Terminal is adjacent to Junction Road, under Dane County’s Jurisdiction as County Highway M; and
WHEREAS, a signal on Junction Road is needed to safely allow BRT buses to exit the terminal and for passengers to safely cross Junction Road to the West Terminal Station; and
WHEREAS, the costs for such signal are already incorporated in the existing and approved East-West BRT budget; and
WHEREAS, Madison must enter into an agreement with Dane County to install a signal on a County Highway; and
WHEREAS, Dane County is agreeable to entering into such agreement, providing installation and operation costs are borne by the City; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor, the Finance Director, and the Clerk are authorized to enter into an agreement with Dane County for the installation, maintenance, and operation of a signal on Junction Road at the BRT West Terminal station.
