Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes the noncompetitive purchase of banquet chairs for Monona Terrace. The purchase price is not to exceed $645,503 and will be funded from the Machinery and Other Equipment program within Monona Terrace's capital budget. No additional appropriation required.

Body
WHEREAS, the City owns and operates Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center; and

WHEREAS, every ten years Monona Terrace must replenish its inventory of banquet chairs. These chairs have been used to furnish approximately 5,200 events over the course of ten years. Due to the heavy use, they receive considerable wear and tear; and

WHEREAS, this purchase will not replace the entire inventory of chairs, so the new chairs must match the current chairs in specific ways, most importantly the stacking bars that allow current and new chairs to be stacked on one another and the linking devices (a solid ¼” wire rod welded to the chair frame) so current and new chairs can be linked together; and

WHEREAS, for the reasons explained above and in the attached Noncompetitive Selection Request Form, The Boelter Companies, Inc. is the only licensed distributor of custom MTS Seating premium banquet chairs for this region; and

WHEREAS, MGO 4.26(2) requires goods to be purchased using a competitive process approved by the Finance Director, and under the Finance Director’s Purchasing Guidelines, Common Council approval is required to purchase goods of $50,000 or more without a competitive process;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Common Council authorizes the purchase of banquet chairs and shipping costs, from The Boelter Companies, Inc., not to ex...
