Funds to convert the overhead mainline facilities to underground were previously authorized in RES-23-00135 and RES-23-00511. This resolution includes funding for reimbursements to convert overhead services to underground, estimated to be $50,039. Funds are available in Munis #11986.

BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED:

1. That the Common Council of the City of Madison hereby establishes an underground utility district known as the Wilson/Broom/Henry Underground District - 2024 pursuant to Subsection 19.13(6) of the Madison General Ordinances. The limits of the district are W. Wilson St. from S. Bassett St. to S. Henry St.; S. Broom St. from W. Doty St. to John Nolen Dr.; S. Henry St. from W. Doty St. to W. Wilson St.

2. That the Common Council intends to place overhead utility services underground in this District.

3. That the purpose of the undergrounding project that will occur in the District is to remove overhead distribution and service utility lines and replace them with underground systems and services. As a part of the undergrounding project, private services may need to be upgraded to accommodate the new underground service connection. It is estimated that 34 properties in the District are currently served overhead and are not ready to receive underground service.

4. That the properties in the District that will be affected by the undergrounding project are set forth on Exhibit A to this resolution.

5. That the Common Council finds in accordance with the Common Council Policy for Funding Overhead Utility Lines, RES-11-00256, that the district is eligible to be funded.

6. The properties listed on Exhibit A are currently served by utilities with above ground wires and the property owners are hereby ordered to modify the property’s electrical services to accept underground service within 24...
