Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution deletes and recreates positions for the classifications of Arborist 1 and Arborist 2. The reclassification for Arborist 1 moves positions from compensation group 16, range 10 to compensation group 16, range 11 and for Arborist 2 moves positions from compensation group 16, range 12 to compensation group 16, range 13. This impacts the following Arborist 1 positions for Streets: #1427, #1446, #1453, #1459, #1465, #1478, #1479, #1488, #1514, #1525, #1540, #3224, #4069, #4070, #4512, #4513, #4514, #4515, and the following Arborist 1 positions for Parks: #1424, #1429. This impacts the following Arborist 2 positions for Streets: #1469, #1474, #1502, #1551, #1555, #1558, #4509, #4510, and the following Arborist 2 position for Parks: #1467.
The annualized cost increase for this change is between $2,013 and $2,225 for each Arborist 1 position, and between $1,807 and $2,630 for each Arborist 2 position, including benefits. Streets and Parks may be able to accommodate this increase within their existing personnel budget if there is sufficient salary savings from turnover and vacancies in other positions. Each agency's budget will be monitored throughout the year and if necessary, a budget amendment may be offered through the year-end appropriation. No additional appropriation is needed at this time to fund the proposed changes.
