Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes a contract to install new carpet at Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. The cost of the contract is not to exceed $445,000. Funding for the installation is included in the 2024 Executive Capital Budget within Monona Terrace’s Building and Building Improvements capital program.

A Resolution authorizing a non-competitive selection contract not to exceed $445,000 with Sergenian’s Floor Coverings, Inc. for the removal and reclamation of old and installation of new carpet at Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. (District 4)
Body
WHEREAS, the City owns and operates Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center; and
WHEREAS, the carpet has a 10 year warranty, which is up in 2024; and requires replacement; and
WHEREAS, the booking calendar has been blocked from booking events in order to accommodate the schedule for carpet replacement in 2024; and
WHEREAS, Sergenian’s Floor Coverings, Inc. has this installation twice before in 2003-2004 and 2013- 2014 and therefore has a proven track record of being able to plan and execute the service within the time allotted for this complex installation process; and
WHEREAS, Sergenian’s Floor Coverings, Inc. additionally will store back-stock of the carpet for repairs as needed over the next 10 years; and
WHEREAS, Sergenian’s Floor Coverings, Inc. participates in America’s first and only complete carpet reclamation program. Their environmental commitment states that any carpet they remove will not end up in a landfill. This is important to Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center, as a LEED-EB® Platinum Certified Green Building; and
WHEREAS, MGO 4.26 requires Common Council approval of service contracts of $50,000 or more if the contractor was not selected through a competitive selection process and the reasons for selecting this contractor are set forth above and in the attached Noncompetitive Selection Request form;
