Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes the Parks Division to apply for and accept if awarded, grant funding from the Dane County Parks’ PARC & Ride Grant Program. The grant will fund a portion of the costs of improvements for the Country Grove Recreational Biking project. The project is included in the Parks Division’s adopted 2023 and 2024 Executive Capital Budget Parkland Improvement Program (MUNIS 17421). If the grant is awarded, the Parks Division Adopted Capital Budget will be amended to appropriate the grant funding of up to $187,500. No additional appropriation is required.

Body
WHEREAS, the 2018-2023 Park and Open Space Plan calls for the development of additional recreational bike amenities throughout the Parks system; and
WHEREAS, In 2020 the Parks Division completed the Madison Bicycle Adventure Trail (MadBAT) planning project which systematically identified locations throughout the city where bike amenities could be placed in such a way to most effectively benefit the community; and
WHEREAS, Country Grove Park and adjacent City-owned greenways were selected, based on its location, space available, and input from neighbors during a recent master planning process, to incorporate facilities consistent with the concept plan for recreational bike facilities, which will consist of features such as wood and natural surface trail features, and bike optimized single track with rock features; and
WHEREAS, in cooperation with City of Madison Engineering, the Parks Division has the proposed Country Grove Recreational Biking project identified in the Parks Division’s 2023 and 2024 Capital Budget request, to be constru...
