Title
Commending and thanking Greg Mickells for his dedicated service to the Madison Public Library and the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, Greg Mickells began his tenure as the Library Director at the Madison Public Library on September 2, 2012; and,
WHEREAS, under Director Mickells’ leadership, the Madison Public Library has received numerous awards, including the 2016 National Medal for Museum and Library Service, a Wisconsin Innovation Award, and a Top Innovator Award from the Urban Libraries Council; and,
WHEREAS, Director Mickells supported numerous library building improvement initiatives, including the renovation of the Central and Meadowridge Libraries and a relocation of the Pinney Library; and,
WHEREAS, Director Mickells encouraged new service additions to the library, including supporting the creation of the Bubbler program in 2013, taking ownership of the Wisconsin Book Festival in 2013, and beginning Dream Bus service in partnership with the Dane County Library Service in 2019; and,
WHEREAS, Director Mickells has supported community partnerships and promoted library service across the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council commend and thank Library Director Greg Mickells for his dedicated service to the Madison Public Library and the City of Madison.
