Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution approves an extension of a provisional appointment for the Golf Greenskeeper 3 position. The incumbent has been filling the position since April 3, 2023 and this resolution extends the appointment until the position is filled on a permanent basis or until April 30, 2024, whichever is earlier. Funding for the Golf Greenskeeper 3 position is included in the 2023 Golf Enterprise Adopted Operating Budget and 2024 Golf Enterprise Agency Operating Request. No additional appropriation is required.

Approving an extension of a provisional appointment for Shannon Barstow from October 30, 2023 until such time as the position of Golf Greenskeeper 3 is filled on a permanent basis or until April 30, 2024, whichever is earlier.
Body
WHEREAS, Shannon Barstow has been filling the position of Golf Greenskeeper 3, on a provisional basis, assuming lead working and course maintenance responsibilities of Yahara Hills Golf Course since April 30, 2023; and
WHEREAS, the recruitment to fill the position permanently is underway, but will likely not be completed prior to October 30, 2023, necessitating request for extension; and,
WHEREAS, it is expected that Shannon Barstow will continue to perform the Golf Greenskeeper 3 duties until the position is filled on a permanent basis; and
WHEREAS, City Personnel Rules allow for provisional appointments for six (6) months unless further approval is granted by the Madison Common Council;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Shannon Barstow’s provisional appointment be extended from October 30, 2023, with no change to the terms of the current provisional appointment, until the Golf Greenskeeper 3 position is filled on a permanent basis or until April 30, 2024, whichever is earlier.
