Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution authorizes the City Finance Director to issue a purchase order with Madison Gas & Electric for the conversion of overhead facilities to underground facilities as part of the project plan for TID 45. The proposed cost is $712,500. Funds are available in Munis #11986. No additional appropriation is required.

Body

In coordination with the Public Works project to reconstruct portions of W. Wilson St. and S. Broom St. and resurface a portion of S. Henry St. in 2023 (project/Munis # 11986), the City has requested that MG&E convert their existing overhead facilities to be undergrounded, and this work has been included in the project plan for TID 45. Due to these streets being gateway streets into the downtown and the presence of funding through the TID, this project satisfies the criteria in the City’s undergrounding policy for projects where the City may fund this type of conversion.

BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED:

1.                     That the City Finance Director is authorized to issue a Purchase Order to Madison Gas & Electric for the conversion of overhead facilities to underground in coordination with the Public Works project on W. Wilson St., S. Broom St. and S. Henry St.
