Title
A resolution authorizing the Common Council to delegate equivalent authority for approval of the Metro Transit Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP) to the Madison Transportation Commission.
Body
WHEREAS, Madison Metro Transit is subject to recent requirements from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to develop, approve, and follow a Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP), and;
WHEREAS, the PTASP must be approved by Metro’s governing board or equivalent authority, and;
WHEREAS, Madison municipal code 33.56.7(e) grants the Madison Transportation Commission the authority to provide final approval for “Rules necessary to ensure safety for bus passengers”, and;
WHEREAS, the FTA has asked Madison to confirm that the Common Council has delegated equivalent authority for the approval of the PTASP to the Transportation Commission.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council is hereby delegating authority to approve the Metro Transit Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan to the Madison Transportation Commission.
