Approving Revisions to Recently Updated Board of Park Commissioners Rules of Procedure and Basic Policies to Clarify Term Dates of Resident Subcommittee Members

 

Body

WHEREAS, pursuant to Madison General Ordinances Section 33.05(3), the Board of Park Commissioners is required to adopt Rules of Procedures and Basic Policies, which may be amended from time-to-time by the Board; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Board last updated its rules March 8, 2023 (File No. 76473); and,

 

WHEREAS, staff received guidance that clarification was necessary as it relates to standard term start and end dates to ensure consistency and efficiency in managing appointments; and,

 

WHEREAS, the proposed revised update clarifies that “All terms shall commence on May 1, and expire April 30, three years later, except that the term of Park Commissioner appointees shall expire upon the expiration of their appointment to the Board of Park Commissioners.”; and,

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that, pursuant to MGO Sec. 33.05(3), the Board of Park Commissioners hereby approves the updated Rules of Procedures and Basic Policies governing the Board, which updated rules are attached hereto and incorporated herein.
