Adopting the City of Madison Parks Division's 2023 Land Management Plan

The Parks Division’s Land Management Plan was last updated and Adopted by the Board of Park Commissioners on June 14, 2017 (Leg File #47360) from the previous 2012 version. Starting in November 2021, staff collaborated with the Habitat Stewardship Subcommittee to update and refine the Land Management Plan to ensure it accurately reflects advances that the Parks Division has made since the last plan update. The Plan is rooted in principles of Integrated Pest Management and incorporates best management practices for work related to land management. The Plan sets an appropriate vision for continuing to improve the Parks Division’s work in this area.
The Habitat Stewardship Subcommittee unanimously approved the updated Land Management Plan on May 9, 2023 (Leg File #68420).
The Land Management Plan, adopted by the Board of Park Commissioners, shall support the Parks and Open Space Plan by providing a framework and rationale for managing and stewarding the City’s parklands.
