Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution deletes five vacant Transit Operator positions and creates four mechanic positions. The net result is a 1.0 FTE reduction in Metro Transit's authorized positions and annualized cost savings of $50,000 to $66,000.

Resolution to delete vacant positions #4343, 4351, 5028, 5031, and 5032 of Transit Operator (CG 41, R05A), and recreate the positions as three (3) Transit Class A Mechanic positions (CG 41, R9) and one (1) Transit Class B Mechanic position (CG 41, R8) in the Metro Transit operating budget thereof.

WHEREAS, Metro Transit has more than sufficient budgeted Transit Operator positions for the network redesign; and

WHEREAS, Metro Transit continues to struggle to keep up with vehicle inspection and repair needs given the current number of mechanic positions; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the vacant Transit Operator positions #4343, 4351, 5028, 5031, and 5032  in CG 41, R05A be recreated as three (3) Transit Class A Mechanic positions in CG 41, R9 and one (1) Transit Class B Mechanic position in CG 41, R8 in the permanent salary detail of Metro Transit’s operating budget.
