WHEREAS, Alder Grant Foster was elected to the Madison Common Council on April 2, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Alder Foster served on the Madison Area Transportation Planning Board (MPO); Transportation Commission; Transportation Policy & Planning Board; Common Council Executive Committee; President’s Work Group to Review Council Communication Tools & Processes; Capital Area Regional Planning Commission (CARPC); Ad Hoc Task Force on the Structure of City Government (TFOGS) Final Report Implementation Work Group; Board of Public Works; President’s Work Group to Review and Revise the Chief of Staff Position Description; President’s Work Group on Environmental Justice; Sustainable Madison Committee; and Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District; and

WHEREAS, Alder Foster put forward successful budget amendments in his first year as alder that initiated the Network Redesign, Complete & Green Streets, and Vision Zero initiatives, and expanded snow plowing on shared use paths on weekends and holidays; and

WHEREAS, Alder Foster helped lead the overhaul of Madison’s traffic calming program into the Safe Streets Madison program; and

WHEREAS, Alder Foster led a comprehensive overhaul to Madison’s streets assessment policy; and

WHEREAS, Alder Foster pushed for Innovative Street design on several street projects, including Atwood Avenue; Dean Avenue; Dempsey Road/Davies Street; Starkweather Drive/Garver Path; Wilson Street/Broom Street/Bassett Street; and path crossings at Ohio Avenue and Jackson Street; and

WHEREAS, Alder Foster sponsored the elimination of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee, the Committee on the Environment, and the Transportation Policy and Planning Board; and ?

WHEREAS, Alder Foster updated the ordinance to prohibit excessive salting of sidewalks?; and
