Board of Health for Madison and Dane County Resolution #2023 - 13 Authorization to Accept Additional Funds from WI Department of Health Services to Support the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Programs

Public Health Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) proposes the acceptance of additional funding from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) to support the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program.
The Board of Health for Madison and Dane County previously approved Resolution #2023-08 authorizing the acceptance of $967,747 from Wisconsin Department of Health Services for WIC services. PHMDC received an additional $24,808 from WI DHS for FY2023, increasing the total funding amount to $989,555 for 2023.
Furthermore, PHMDC received an additional $378 from WI DHS for FY2023 for a total of $10,537 for the Farmers Market Nutrition Program for 2023.
Additionally, WIC is participating in a Tufts Telehealth Grant, and received $1,705 from WI DHS for FY2023. This grant cycle will conclude in December 2023.
Lastly, the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County previously approved Resolution #2022-35 authorizing the acceptance of $84,200 from Wisconsin Department of Health Services for the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program for 2023. PHMDC received an additional $14,040 for a total of $96,440.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County on behalf of Public Health Madison and Dane County authorizes the Director of Public Health, or their designee, to accept and expend the funds in the total amount of $989,555 for the WIC budget, $10,537 for the Farmers Market Nutrition Program, $1,705 for the Tufts Telehealth grant, and $96,440 for the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that Board of Health for Madison and Dane County on behalf of Public Health Madison and Dane County authorizes the Director of Public Health, or their designee, to adjust the 2023 Public Health budget accordingly.
