Board of Health for Madison and Dane County Resolution #2023-09 Authorization to accept additional Title V Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant funds for the Youth, Caregiver and Family Engagement Project

Public Health Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) proposed the acceptance of $50,000 of additional funding from the State of WI Department of Health Services through the Title V Maternal Child Health Services Block Grant. The Title V program seeks to integrate community and family voice representing the diversity of Wisconsin’s population. Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) families and graduates will be engaged and empowered to help lead the Community Advisory Board (CAB). The CAB will identify opportunities to promote Maternal Child Health as well as foster relationships and increase social connectedness among families and graduates. Funding will support members of the CAB to receive training and leadership development to help as they advocate for the needs of their community. Compensation will be provided for the CAB members’ time and expertise. Funding will also support training opportunities related to MCH and health equity for PHMDC staff.
On December 5, 2022 The Board of Health for Madison and Dane County passed Board of Health for Madison and Dane County Resolution #2022-35 which approved $179,317 from the Wisconsin Department of Health Service for the Title V Maternal Child Health Services Block Grant. With the additional funding, the total award amount is $229,317.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County on behalf of Public Health Madison and Dane County authorizes the Director of Public Health, or their designee, to accept the additional funding amount of $50,000, adjust the 2023 Public Health Budget, and sign the related agreement.
