Public Health Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) proposes the acceptance of additional funding grant from The Roots and Wings Foundation, Inc. Roots and Wings is a nonprofit private foundation which supports organizations in Wisconsin, as well as some others across the nation, in the areas of early childhood, basic needs, healthcare and human rights.
On July 20, 2022, the Board of Health authorized PHMDC to accept $150,000 of grant funding from Roots and Wings for Nurse Family Partnership annually for the next three years via Resolution #2022-23.
Roots and Wings would like to provide additional grant funding in the amount of $100,000 of funding for 2022 and $250,000 annually for two consecutive years (2023, 2024). This funding will continue to support the Maternal and Child Health population from pregnancy now through age four. All Maternal and Child Health services will utilize these funds, including Nurse Family Partnership, Prenatal Care Coordination, WIC- Women Infant Children, Fetal Infant Mortality Review and Doula services. PHMDC also proposes accepting $700.00 for participation in a Roots & Wings planning meeting.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County, on behalf of Public Health-Madison and Dane County, is authorized to accept additional grant funding of $100,700 from the Roots and Wings Foundation for 2022 and $250,000 for annually for two consecutive years (2023, 2024) to support the Maternal and Child Health Population from Pregnancy through age four.
