Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a Joint Funding Agreement with the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) and Madison Area Municipal Stormwater Partnership for January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022 at an estimated cost of $5,000. Funding is available in the 2022 Adopted Operating Budget for the Stormwater Utility (84125-54810- 00000). No additional appropriation is required.

Body

WHEREAS, The City of Madison as a permitted municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) by the WDNR and EPA is mandated to track and reduce pollutants to the Waters of the State including chlorides;

 

WHEREAS, Wisconsin Saltwise is a collation of members dedicated to the efficient use of winter deicers that contain chlorides.

 

WHEREAS, City Engineering, via the Storm Water Utility, has partnered with MMSD and multiple other groups and municipalities as part of a group known as Wisconsin Saltwise for the last five (5) years and

 

WHEREAS, Wisconsin Saltwise has realized a need for a limited term employee to help coordinate activities and continue to advance salt reduction efforts;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an Joint Funding agreement with MMSD for the calendar year 2022 with the level of funding noted above.

 

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Finance Director be authorized to make payment to MMSD in accordance with the Joint Funding Agreement. Said payment to be made from 84125-54810-00000
