Confirming the format of Plan Commission meetings for the remainder of 2022 and beginning of 2023 and discussing changing the day of the week that the Plan Commission meets in regular session.

On November 10, 2021, the Mayor and Common Council leadership asked boards, committees, and commissions (BCC) to decide how they will meet in 2022.
Each body, including the Plan Commission, shall vote on what they want their default mode to be for 2022 - in person or virtual. Once a default method is established, the body should continue regularly meeting that way to help avoid any misunderstandings from the public about how to attend meetings of that body. If a BCC needs to change their meeting method from their default method, they should update the location of that meeting occurrence in the Legistar calendar at least two weeks - preferably a month - in advance. Also, if the BCC chooses to meet in-person, those meetings must be held in buildings open to the public. At the moment, that includes the Madison Municipal building (MMB), the first and second stories of the City-County Building (CCB), our libraries, and possibly other City facilities. For in-person meetings, the City will continue to use the online registration form.
Following the Common Council's direction, the Plan Commission approved continuing virtual meetings through May 2022 at its December 13, 2021 meeting (ID 68716). At its April 25, 2022 meeting, the Plan Commission approved continuing virtual meetings through September 2022 (ID 70668).
Staff requests that the Plan Commission determine how it shall meet through the end of 2022 and beginning of 2023.
Also, the Plan Commission has historically met on Monday evenings at 5:30. In light of recent interest by members of the Plan Commission, staff is exploring moving Plan Commission meetings to Tuesday evenings on the weeks that the Common Council is not scheduled to meet and BCCs are not otherwise prohibited from meeting by Madison General Ord...
