Commending and thanking Barbara Karlen for her dedicated service to Lakeview Public Library and the residents of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, Barbara has devoted 50 years to Lakeview Public Library through the Friends of Lakeview Library; and
WHEREAS, Barbara led the Friends organization for many years on her own, until she was joined by fellow board members; and
WHEREAS, the Friends have raised thousands of dollars for library programs and services, with much of the money raised through sales of donated books; and
WHEREAS, Barbara assisted with a funding drive for expansion of Lakeview Library; and
WHEREAS, Barbara has helped organize efforts by a combined group of Friends of all Madison public libraries; and
WHEREAS, Barbara also served on the Madison Public Library Board, helping to guide and support library services through Madison;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council commend and thank Barbara Karlen for her dedicated service to Lakeview Public Library and the residents of Madison.
