I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following resident committee appointments.

 

*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.

Pursuant to Sec. 3.30(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, "...provision shall not apply to a member of or candidate for appointment to a City of Madison board, committee or commission where, in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of a non-resident member who is particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience with Madison business concerns or other Madison-based employers and the Mayor specifies fully to the Common Council the reasons why he or she is recommending such appointment."

 

 

BOARD OF HEALTH FOR MADISON AND DANE COUNTY

 

CERI E. JENKINS (11th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of City Resident succeeding Paula T. Inzeo. Ceri Jenkins is a data analytics manager with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services - COVID Response. She previously co-managed the Mayors Innovation Project (MIP) based at the University of Wisconsin.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES COMMISSION

 

LINDA J. KETCHAM (3rd A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident succeeding Luke B. Schieve. Linda Ketcham is the Executive Director of JustDane (formerly Madison-area Urban Ministry). She works with numerous community organizations and most recently served on the City of Madison’s Affirmative Action Commission and the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award Commission.

MADISON ARTS COMMISSION

 

PRENICIA E. CLIFTON (6th A.D. ) - appoint to a three-year term to the position of Resident Member succeeding Yvette M. Pino. Prenicia Clifton is the director of youth protection and compliance with the University of Wisconsin System. She is also an accomplished opera singer with credits in major opera houses around the world.

MITCHELL F. BRANSCOMBE (6th S.F. ) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Resident Member succeeding Taeli S. T. Reistad. Mitchell Branscombe is an architect and artist currently working with Strang Architects.

MADISON FOOL POLICY COUNCIL

 

TAYLR M. JOHNSON (13th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Resident Member succeeding Christopher Brockel who assumed the Local Restaurateur position. Taylr Johnson was just recently appointed to the Youth Member position.

NDEMAZEA FONKEM (8th A.D. ) - appoint to a one-year term to the position of Youth Member succeeding Taylr Johnson who assumed a Resident Member position. Ndemazea Fonkem is a student at the UW-Madison majoring in Landscape and Urban Studies and plans to pursue graduate work in Food Systems Development. She currently works at REAP Food Group.

KATIE L. STRADER (12th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Resident Member succeeding Erica C. Anderson. Katie Strader is the director of revenue operations for Zendesk. She has a graduate program certificate in Sustainable Food Systems. She also volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County.

School Superintendent appointment:

DUSTIN K. LUNDT (12th A.D.)  - appointed to the position of Madison Metropolitan School District Representative. Mr. Lundt is the Food and Nutrition Coordinator.

MADISON PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD

 

MATHIAS N. LEMOS CASTILLO (20th A.D.) - appoint to a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident succeeding Jair C. Alvarez. Mathias Lemos Castillo is a self-employed business consultant. He is active in the community and is a member of the Latino Professionals Association.

YEONHEE CHEONG (11th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident succeeding Michael I. Ford. Yeonhee Cheong is an artist and lecturer at the UW-Madison School of Human Ecology. She previously served as an instructor at the Art & Literature Laboratory summer camp and has volunteer as a choir pianist for the Korean Catholic Church.

ROOM TAX COMMISSION

 

TOM ZIARNIK (1st A.D.) - reappoint to a one-year term to the position of Hotel/Motel Industry Representative. First appointed 7-5-2016.

*SALLY MILEY, Middleton - reappoint to a one-year term to the position of Adult City Resident. First appointed 7-5-2016.

Rationale: Sally Miley has been a member of this body since its inception in 2016 and currently serves as its chair. A former alder and deputy mayor, she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience. Her finance education and city government experience, as well as her leadership skills, make her a valuable member of this commission.

 

GLENN KRIEG (19th A.D.) - reappoint to a one-year term to the position of Adult City Resident. First appointed 7-5-2016.

Transportation Commission

 

ROBBIE WEBBER (5th A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident. First appointed 11-16-2021.

PATRICIA BENNETT (10th A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident. First appointed 10-19-2021.

DARRIN S. WASNIEWSKI (10th A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of Second Alternate. First appointed 2-1-2022.

WATER UTILITY BOARD

 

ROBERT J. ABRAHAMIAN (13th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a five-year term to the position of Resident Member succeeding Lauren Cnare. Robert Abrahamian is a graduate student/project assistant at the UW-Madison LaFollette School of Public Affairs. He has a B.S. in Hydrology & Water Resources and Political Science. In addition, he previously worked in the Wisconsin State Assembly.
