The proposed resolution authorizes an agreement for federal/state construction cost sharing for the Autumn Ridge Path project. Under this agreement, the state share of construction costs would be $2,520,000 and the City of Madison share would be $3,180,000 funded by GO Borrowing. Funding is included in the 2022 Adopted Engineering - Bicycle and Pedestrian Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for the Autumn Ridge Path project (MUNIS 11859) and the 2023 Engineering - Bicycle and Pedestrian Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Agency Request.

Body
The City of Madison is proposing to construct the Autumn Ridge Path from Ziegler Road to Stein Avenue. The project will be constructed under a contract let by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). A revised project Agreement with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be required to update estimated construction costs. The proposed project is planned for construction in the year 2024.
The agreement requires that the City indemnify the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation. City APM 1-1 requires Common Council Approval whenever the City indemnifies another party.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an amended agreement with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation for construction cost sharing for the Autumn Ridge Path project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Common Council approves indemnification of the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation as set forth in the agreement in order to use federal funds for the Autumn Ridge Path project.
