Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution supports and approves the City of Madison City Engineer’s submission of an application to the US DOT for a Bridge Investment Program grant, and to accept the grant if awarded. The resolution also authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into a grant agreement with the US DOT, if awarded the grant. The requested grant amount is anticipated to be up to $24 million. This resolution commits to providing the required 20% matching funds, up to $6,000,000, should the proposed grant be awarded to the City of Madison.

Whereas the City of Madison has 6 bridges along the John Nolen Drive Causeway; and

Whereas, the City of Madison has proposed replacement of the 6 bridges along the John Nolen Drive Causeway and planned for it in the Capital Improvement Program; and

Whereas, the US DOT’s Federal Highway Administration’s Bridge Investment Program has allocated $2.36 billion for bridge projects; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council fully support the application by City Engineering to the US DOT for the Bridge Investment Program;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer is authorized to submit an application, on behalf of the City, for federal funds for the Bridge Investment Program, to accept the grant if awarded, and to execute and/or submit any other documents related to the grant, in a format approved by the City Attorney, that may be necessary to comply with the grant conditions;

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Common Council authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into a grant agreement with US DOT, or their designee, in a format approved by the City Attorney, for the Bridge Invest...
