Board of Health for Madison and Dane County Resolution #2022-15 Acceptance of Additional funds for WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program (BFPC)

Public Health - Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) proposes accepting additional funds from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Breastfeeding Peer Counselor (BFPC) Program. These are funds that the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) distributes to State agencies, and are used to develop or expand activities necessary to sustain a peer counseling program based on the FNS WIC Breastfeeding Model for Peer Counseling. The primary purpose of BFPC funds is to provide direct peer counselors to WIC mother breastfeeding support services.
The Board of Health previously approved initial funding in the amount of $65,000 in Board of Health Resolution #2021-27. PHMDC has received an additional $19,200 from the WI Department of Health Services, increasing the funding amount to total $84,200.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Health for Madison on behalf of Public Health-Madison and Dane County authorizes the Director of Public Health, or their designee, to accept $19,200 from the WI Department of Health Services for the 2022 BFPC WIC Program.
