Full funding for the Parks Recreation Services Coordinator is included in the 2022 Adopted Operating Budget. No additional appropriation is required.
Title
Approving an extension of a provisional appointment for Joanne Austin from June 13, 2022 until such time as the position of Parks Recreation Services Coordinator is filled on a permanent basis or until December 13, 2022, whichever is earlier.
Body
WHEREAS, Joanne Austin has been filling the position of Parks Recreation Services Coordinator, on a provisional basis, assuming supervisory responsibilities of the Park Ranger section since June 13, 2021; and
WHEREAS, on December 7, 2021, Common Council authorized RES-21-00806, an extension of the current provisional appointment through June 13, 2022 (Leg File #68334); and,
WHEREAS, the recruitment to fill the position permanently is underway and nearing completion, but will likely not be completed prior to June 13, 2022, necessitating an additional request for extension; and,
WHEREAS, it is expected that Joanne Austin will continue to perform these duties until the Parks Recreation Services Coordinator is filled on a permanent basis; and
WHEREAS, City Personnel Rules allow for provisional appointments for six (6) months unless further approval is granted by the Madison Common Council;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Joanne Austin’s provisional appointment be extended from June 13, 2022, with no change to the terms of the current provisional appointment, until the Parks Recreation Services Coordinator position is filled on a permanent basis or until December 13, 2022, whichever is earlier.
