DRAFTER’S ANALYSIS: This ordinance updates the description of Alder District boundaries as a result of the state redistricting process. This ordinance does not change the boundaries of Districts but only the numbering of the wards contained in each District.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:

1. Section 15.03 entitled “Alder Districts” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended as follows:

“For the purpose of local elections beginning January 1May 25, 2022, Alder Districts are established as follows by combining contiguous whole wards and as shown on a map entitled "City of Madison Alder Districts and Wards, Effective January 1May 25, 20212" on file in the Office of the City Clerk:

(1)First Alder District. Wards 108, 109, 110, 111, 112, 113, and 114, 138, and 139.
(2)Second Alder District. Wards 46, 47, 48, 49, and 50.
(3)Third Alder District. Wards 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13, 122, and 123.
(4)Fourth Alder District. Wards 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, and 56, and 126.
(5)Fifth Alder District. Wards 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, and 67.
(6)Sixth Alder District. Wards 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, and 45.
(7)Seventh Alder District. Wards 103, 104, 105, 106, and 107.
(8)Eighth Alder District. Wards 57, 58, 59, 60, and 61, 131, and 134.
(9)Ninth Alder District. Wards 115, 116, 117, 118, and 119, 137, 140, and 141.
