Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes up to $3,788.50 for a façade improvement grant. This grant will be funded by the Economic Development Division’s Small Business Equity and Recovery Program. No additional City appropriation is required.

Body
WHEREAS, on October 3, 2000, the Common Council adopted Resolution ID # 61179, approving the Facade Improvement Grant Program to support and encourage small local businesses to reinvest in the downtown and smaller, neighborhood shopping and business areas and designating the Community Development Authority as the agent of the City for the operation and administration of the Program; and
WHEREAS, the grants are matching grants and will be provided in an amount up to 50% of the total project costs up to a maximum of $10,000 for a single facade, $20,000 for a building with two facades, and $25,000 for a “flatiron” building; and
WHEREAS, the Facade Improvement Grant Program Staff Team has reviewed the proposal from 319 State Street, LLC and determined that it meets the requirements of the Program; and
WHEREAS, the Urban Design Commission reviewed the proposal and made an advisory recommendation that the door have full view glass, and that the applicant either reuse the existing hardware or find hardware more in keeping with the commercial style of the building.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council does hereby approve the following Facade Improvement Grant:
1. Grantee: 319 State Street, LLC dba The Soap Opera, located at 319 State St
2. Scope: The owner is replacing the existing storefront doors:
a. Replacement of existing storefront doors with new oak doors
b. Restore and reuse existing brass hardware
c. Installation
3. Project Cost: Total project cost is estimated at $7,577.00. Façade Improvement Grant estimated at $3,788.50, and shall not exceed 50% ...
