Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes an amendment to the existing Architectural / Engineering design services contract for the Imagination Center at Reindahl Park project. The resolution seeks to add $1,251,073.40 to the existing authorized contract amount of $295,770 for continued services to be provided during Schematic Design through Warranty phases of the project. The 2022 Adopted Capital Budget includes $1.6 million in budget authority to cover the Pre-Design, Schematic Design, and Design Development phases. The remaining phases (Construction Documentation, Bidding, and Construction Administration) are contingent on adoption of appropriate funding in the 2023 Capital Budget for the Imagination Center at Reindahl Park (Munis 17085, Contract #9033).

WHEREAS the parties, the City of Madison(“City”) and Joseph Lee & Associates, LLC (“Architect” or “Contractor”) entered into a contract for the purchase of professional architectural design services for the Imagination Center at Reindahl Park project on April 12, 2021 (RES-21-00137, File ID 63945); and,
WHEREAS this contract is structured into (2) Steps, with Step 1 starting with the successful execution of the above contract on April 12, 2021. Subject to the successful completion and acceptance of Step 1 by the City, subject to the approval of an amendment by Common Council, and subject to the necessary budget authority, the City will proceed to Step 2,
WHEREAS Step 2 services includes the following; Phases II-VI: Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Bidding, and Construction Administration phase(s) as described in Exhibit-A Scope of Services. Step 2 services allow for the completion of remaining design and construction administration services of the Imagination Center at Reindahl Park
WHEREAS the contract amendment for this resolution is to proceed with Step 2 design and construction administration services identified above,
WHEREAS The Contractor has completed all necessary tasks and delivered all required work products in Step 1,
WHEREAS Madison Public Library, City of Madison Parks Division, and City of Madison Information Technology Department, have accepted all work products in Step 1,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council hereby authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to execute Amendment #1 to the Contract between the City of Madison and Joseph Lee & Associates, LLC, in a form to be approved by the City Attorney, to provide additional professional architectural and engineering design services for the work as described above.
