Title

Authorizing a no-cost Wisconsin Court Data Subscription Agreement for public court data regarding evictions with the Wisconsin Director of State Courts Office Consolidated Court Automation Programs

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access (WCCA) website provides access to certain public records of the Wisconsin circuit courts, including data on eviction proceedings; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of Madison Data and Innovation team is interested in accessing public eviction data to analyze geographic and time-series trends in evictions in the City and Dane County; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Court System offers a data subscription agreement (“Data Subscription Agreement”) that allows local governments to efficiently download this public data through the Representational Stat Transfer (REST) interface at no cost to the subscriber; and,

 

WHEREAS, the WCCA Data Subscription Agreement outlines the technical requirements and commitments for approved subscribers; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of Madison Data and Innovation team understands and agrees to comply with the State’s requirements in the Data Subscription Agreement.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council of the City of Madison hereby authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a 12 month WCCA Data Subscription Agreement with the Wisconsin Director of State Courts Office Consolidated Court Automation Programs (CCAP), and the Finance Director or designee is authorized to execute annual renewals as needed for the work of the Data and Innovation Team.
