I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following resident committee appointments.

 

*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.

Pursuant to Sec. 3.30(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, "...provision shall not apply to a member of or candidate for appointment to a City of Madison board, committee or commission where, in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of a non-resident member who is particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience with Madison business concerns or other Madison-based employers and the Mayor specifies fully to the Common Council the reasons why he or she is recommending such appointment."

 

 

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIVISION CONFERENCE COMMITTEE

 

Community Development Block Grant Committee recommendation:

JENNIFER CAMPBELL (11th A.D.) - reappoint to the position of Community Development Block Grant Committee Member.

Community Services Committee recommendation:

BRIDGET D. ROGERS (17th A.D.) - reappoint to the position of Community Services Committee Member.

MICHELLE DUNPHY (19th A.D.) - reappoint to the position of Community Services Committee Member.

MADISON ARTS COMMISSION

 

NICHOLAS A. PJEVACH (6th A.D.) appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Resident Member succeeding Francesca Rodriquez. Nicholas Pjevach is a gift analyst with the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association. They have an MBA in Arts Administration and previously chaired the Economic Impact Subcommittee of Greater Madison Music City.

MADISON GUARANTEED INCOME PILOT PROGRAM ADVISORY TASK FORCE

 

LAUREN H.  MARTIN (11th A.D.) appoint to the position of Non-Profit Representative succeeding Martha Cranley. Lauren Martin is the senior director of community impact with United Way Dane County.

 

 

MADISON’S CENTRAL BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT (BID) BOARD

 

Note: Per the Business Improvement District [BID] Operating Plan as approved by the Common Council, “Wisconsin Statutes section 66.1109(3) (a) requires that the Board be composed of at least five members and that a majority of the Board members shall either own or occupy real property in the District.  If the actual property or business owner is an entity, that entity shall designate a representative to act on its behalf.”

 

*JOSEY CHU, Sun Prairie - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of State Street Area - Business Owner succeeding Amy J. Moore.

TERM EXPIRES: 1-18-2023

 

Rationale: Josey Chu is the owner of Madame Chu Delicacies. She is one of the pop-up shop vendors participating in the City of Madison’s Pop-Up Shop program. She is also a Market Ready participant and an alumna of Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation’s (WARF) UpStart program - an entrepreneurship program for women and people of color. She has been running her business for over five years.

 

JACQUELINE A. IRIBARREN (11th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of State Street Area - Business Owner succeeding Stacey M. Scannell. Jacqueline Iribarren is the owner of Rethreads located at 410 State Street.

VERNON ZIEGLER (18th A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of UW Associated Students of Madison (ASM) Representative. First appointed 11-16-2021.

TERM EXPIRES: 1-18-2025

SARAN OUK, Office of Business Resources Manager - City of Madison - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of City of Madison Representative. First appointed 7-6-2021.

HEATHER M. EWING (2nd A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of At-Large Central Downtown Representative.  First appointed 6-18-2019.

PUBLIC SAFETY REVIEW COMMITTEE

 

VINCENT CHA (11th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Resident Member succeeding Ellen Schmelz. Vincent Cha is self-employed as an American Family Insurance Agency Owner. He serves on the advisory board of Madison College and is the current vice-president of the Hmong Institute Board of Directors.
