Authorization to Accept Additional Funds from The Roots and Wings Foundation, Inc. to support Nurse Family Partnership Operations
Public Health Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) proposes the acceptance of additional funding from The Roots and Wings Foundation, Inc. to support the Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) program. Roots and Wings is a nonprofit private foundation which supports organizations in Wisconsin, as well as some others across the nation, in the areas of early childhood, basic needs, healthcare and human rights.
On August 4, 2021, the Board of Health authorized PHMDC to accept $120,000 of grant funding from Roots and Wings for NFP over the course of two years via Resolution #2021-12. Since the initial acceptance of the grant funding, Roots and Wings has increased the award to a total of $200,000 over the course of two years.
This additional funding will continue to support NFP through the use of flexible funds for NFP clients to cover the costs of such things as: a portion of rent, car repair payment, gas cards, or educational courses. Flexible funding has proven invaluable for NFP families in previous years. Funds also support the NFP Community Advisory Board (CAB), comprised of current and former NFP participants.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County, on behalf of Public Health-Madison and Dane County, authorizes the Director of Public Health, or their designee, to sign an agreement, to accept the funding and amend the budget accordingly, and to spend additional grant funding of $80,000 from The Roots and Wings Foundation, Inc. to support the Nurse Family Partnership Program.
