Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution authorizes an agreement with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the reconstruction of US Highway 151 Park Street from the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad (WSOR) Crossing to Olin Avenue. Funding the project is included in the 2022 Adopted Engineering - Major Streets Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for the Park Street, South project scheduled for 2026. The agreement authorizes a federal/state share of $5,825,000 and the City of Madison share of $528,500 funded by GO Borrowing. Future annual capital budget and CIP requests will reflect the updated amounts per this proposed agreement within Engineering - Major Streets.

Body

The City of Madison Engineering Division is proposing to reconstruct USH 151 (Park Street) from the WSOR Railroad Crossing to Olin Avenue in 2026. Funding is a combination of federal, state and local funds.  The City is responsible for 25% of the design engineering costs (including State oversight), 100% of Construction of the parking lane and 100% of city utility construction costs. 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation for construction cost sharing, plan development and State design review costs for the USH 151 (Park Street) project.
