Proposed extension of the Cannonball Path through a portion of Bowman Field

The Cannonball Path is an existing multi-use paved trail that connects with the Southwest Commuter Trail on the southwest end (near Fitchburg) and currently ends on the northeast end at Fish Hatchery Rd. This proposed project would extend the path to the northeast through a portion of Bowman Field to complete the connection with the existing Wingra Creek Bike Path. Lighting is also proposed to be installed along the path. Additionally, the existing sanitary sewer in the park is in need of replacement, so, in coordination with this project, the existing main would be abandoned, and a new sewer main is proposed to be installed along the proposed path alignment in order to allow for maintenance access and limit additional tree impacts.
