Confirming the reappointment of Angela Trudell Vasquez to the position of Poet Laureate
Body
WHEREAS, Angela Trudell Vasquez has served as Madison Poet Laureate since January 20, 2020, thus nearing the completion of one two-year term in the honorary voluntary position; and
WHEREAS, the appointment of the City’s Poet Laureate may be extended for an additional two years upon agreement between the Poet Laureate and the City; and
WHEREAS, Angela Trudell Vasquez became Madison's Poet Laureate right before the pandemic hit and immediately pivoted to create robust online content for the community in order to continue being an ambassador for poetry, and
WHEREAS, Angela Trudell Vasquez wishes to continue serving as Madison’s Poet Laureate.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Ms. Trudell Vasquez’s reappointment to the position of Poet Laureate is hereby confirmed, and the Mayor and the City agree that Ms. Trudell Vasquez shall serve as Poet Laureate for an additional two (2) year period.
