The proposed resolution amends the 2021 Sustainability Improvements capital project budget to add $200,000 from the U.S. EPA’s State Environmental Justice Cooperative Agreement (SEJCA) grant program to support public education, training, emergency planning, and investigations on impacts of COVID-19 on underserved communities and vulnerable populations in the City of Madison. There is no local match and no impact on the city levy.

Amending the 2021 Sustainability Improvements capital project budget to add $200,000 of grant funding, approving the City of Madison’s application to the U.S. EPA’s State Environmental Justice Cooperative Agreement (SEJCA) grant program to Support Public Education, Training, Emergency Planning, and Investigations on Impacts of COVID-19 on Underserved Communities and Vulnerable Populations in the City of Madison, and authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the associated grant agreement with U.S. EPA.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS in 2020 the City of Madison applied for a grant through the U.S. EPA’s  State Environmental Justice Cooperative Agreement (SEJCA) grant program, but was not awarded initially; and,

 

WHEREAS in 2021 additional funding was allocated and the U.S. EPA awarded the City of Madison a grant in the amount of $200,000 to implement a Citywide COVID-19 Education Program through it’s 2020 application; and

 

WHEREAS this grant will support Public Education, Training, Emergency Planning, and Investigations on Impacts of COVID-19 on Underserved Communities and Vulnerable Populations in the City of Madison and Dane County; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor’s office is authorized to execute and file an application for funding from the U.S. EPA’s State Environmental Justice Cooperative Agreement (SEJCA) grant program on behalf of the City of Madison; that the 2021 Sustainability Improvements capital budget be amended to add $200,000 of awarded funding; and,

 

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute a grant agreement with the U.S. EPA for receipt and use of these funds.
