The proposed resolution authorizes an amendment to the existing engineering design services contract for the Fire Station 6 Addition and remodel project. The resolution seeks to add $80,000 to the existing authorized contract amount of $225,630 for additional services being provided during all design phases of the project. Funding is available in the 2021 Adopted Budget for Fire Station 6 Remodel (Munis # 17040 Contract #8993)

Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute an amendment to the existing Purchase of Services contract (Architect) between the City of Madison and OPN Architects to provide professional architectural and engineering design services and construction administrative services for the Madison Fire Station 6 Addition and Remodel project located at 825 W Badger Road. WHEREAS the parties, the City of Madison(“City”) and OPN Architects (“Architect” or “Contractor”) entered into a contract for the purchase of professional architectural design and construction administration services for the Madison Fire Station 6 Addition and Remodel project on April 20, 2021 (RES-21-00234, File ID 64594); and,
WHEREAS the previously planned 600 square feet (SF) addition will be increased by approximately 1400 SF to a total of approximately 2000 SF and the area of interior remodel work will be enlarged from approximately 4000 SF to approximately 6400 SF. This increased interior remodel and addition scope will support a double company, including additional sleeping chambers, expanded wellness room, larger kitchen, and day room, new outdoor patio space, and additional vehicle bay; and,
WHEREAS the contract amendment for this resolution is to address extra design services needed to design and coordinate the expanded addition and an expanded interior remodel plan at Fire Station 6 to accommodate a double company Fire Department staffing model at this location (RES-21-00470, File ID 65838).
