Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution amends the 2021 Sustainability Improvements capital project budget to add $61,786 of grant funding from the Energy Innovation grant program through the Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN). The funding will be used for the “Alternative Solar Financing for Multifamily Housing” project. There are no matching requirements with the grant and no city levy funding is required.
The resolution also authorizes the associated grant Memorandum of Understanding with USDN.

WHEREAS the Wisconsin Public Service Commission (WI-PSC) recently awarded the City of Madison a grant in the amount of $246,595 to implement efficient building technologies in Naturally Occurring Affordable Housing (NOAH); and
WHEREAS the City of Madison leveraged the WI-PSC award to apply to the Energy Innovation grant as a qualifying mid-sized city throughthe Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN); and,
WHEREAS in June 2021, USDN awarded $61,786 to the City of Madison to establish and complete proof of concept of a rooftop solar installation model that will directly reduce utility bills for residents of unsubsidized affordable housing;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor’s office is authorized to execute and file an application for funding from the Energy Innovation grant program through USDN on behalf of the City of Madison; that the 2021 Sustainability Improvements capital budget be amended to add $61,786 of awarded funding; and,
