The proposed resolution amends the 2021 Sustainability Improvements capital project to add $10,000 in grant funding for the Healthy Babies Bright Futures (HBBF) program. There is no impact on the city levy.

Amending the 2021 Sustainability Improvements capital project budget to add $10,000 of grant funding, approving the City of Madison’s application to the Healthy Babies Bright Futures (HBBF) grant program to support the research, engagement, and implementation planning steps necessary to incorporate mold and lead abatement into energy efficiency retrofits in affordable housing, and authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the associated grant agreement with HBBF.
Body
WHEREAS the Wisconsin Public Service Commission (WI-PSC) recently awarded the City of Madison a grant in the amount of $246,595 to implement efficient building technologies in Naturally Occurring Affordable Housing (NOAH); and
WHEREAS the City of Madison leveraged the WI-PSC award to apply to the Healthy Babies Bright Futures (HBBF) grant program which empowers city leaders to improve children’s health and reduce health disparities in communities by supporting efforts that decrease neurotoxic exposures; and,
WHEREAS in May 2021, HBBF awarded $10,000 to the City of Madison to support the research, engagement, and implementation planning steps necessary to incorporate mold and lead abatement into an existing energy efficiency retrofit program for nonsubsidized affordable housing;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor’s office is authorized to execute and file an application for funding from the HBBF Grant program on behalf of the City of Madison; that the 2021 Sustainability Improvements capital budget be amended to add $10,000 of awarded funding; and,
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute a grant agreement with Healthy Babies Bright Futures for receipt and use of these funds.
