Report of the Mayor submitting resident committee appointments (introduction 12/1/2020; action 1/5/2021).

 

Body

I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following resident committee appointments.

 

 

*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.

Pursuant to Sec. 3.30(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, "...provision shall not apply to a member of or candidate for appointment to a City of Madison board, committee or commission where, in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of a non-resident member who is particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience with Madison business concerns or other Madison-based employers and the Mayor specifies fully to the Common Council the reasons why he or she is recommending such appointment."

 

 

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

 

DONNA MORELAND (7th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Resident Member. Ms. Moreland is currently the deputy secretary for the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. She is a former district 7 alderperson. Ms. Moreland succeeds Craig P. Stanley.

*WAYNE HARRIS, Waunakee - reappoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Resident Member.

TERM EXPIRES: 4-30-2023

 

*Mr. Harris is a current member of the Economic Development Committee (EDC). He has owned several small businesses throughout his decades-long career, including those located within the City of Madison. Mr. Harris frequently draws on this experience and actively provides insight during EDC discussions. His input is greatly valued by staff and fellow EDC members.

 

 

HOUSING STRATEGY COMMITTEE

 

TRACEY A. CARADINE (12th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Resident Member. Ms. Caradine is the assistant director of human resources for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. She has been involved with several community organizations, including Porchlight, Inc. and the Urban League of Greater Madison. Also, she previously served on the Madison Public Library Board. Ms. Caradine succeeds Sharon L. McCabe.

OVERTURE COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD

 

RONALD S. LUSKIN (4th A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of City Appointee. First appointed 1-20-2015.

TERM EXPIRES: 9-1-2023                     

 

SARAH B. KARLEN (3rd A.D.) - reappoint to a three-year term to the position of City Appointee. First appointed 4-10-2018.

TERM EXPIRES: 9-1-2023

 

EUGENIA PODESTÁ (7th A.D.) - appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of City Appointee. First appointed 4-17-2018

TRANSPORTATION POLICY & PLANNING BOARD

 

RANDY UDELL, Fitchburg, WI - appoint to a two-year term to the position of Regional Representative. Mr. Udell is a district 4 alder for the City of Fitchburg. In addition, he is the state party treasurer for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. Mr. Udell is being recommended for this position by Fitchburg Mayor Aaron Richardson. He succeeds Robert Burck.

TERM EXPIRES: 10-1-2022
